I know, what lunatic has no time off in between finishing their old and starting their new? Well, for various reasons too dull to explain, this one does.
I’ve been coming to London regularly over the years, even before I met MrS, and am totally au fait with the tube system and sometimes don’t even need the map to know which line I need these days …
However, from our home I need to get an overland train. Two trains come thru the station, one to Cannon Street and one to Charing Cross.
This morning I needed Cannon Street.
The timetable MrS looked up said Cannon Street.
But at the station I convinced myself I needed Charing cross, so I didn’t get on the 8:41 (which arrived confusingly at 8:39) but instead I got on the 8:46 to Charing Cross. I have NO idea why but anyway, two changes and 2 frantic platform dashes later I finally arrived, still 10 mins early, at my destination.
I’ve not worked in the private sector since before I had my sons so I’m really excited to get back in to the ‘real world’. The company I work for is a marketing analytics company (google it, I had to ;) ) so it’s a totally whole new world for me. I spent today shadowing my boss and getting to know everyone.
Within 3 weeks we will be working out of Waterhouse Square so the office is completely manic at the moment, an exciting time to be joining the company. In an ‘office move” meeting today I was tasked with the following: to explore the surrounding area of the new offices and find out what shops, bars and gyms are in the area and also negotiate with the bar opposite for a regular function
