This is the most beautiful place I have ever been in my life. Every time I look up I feel like I’m in a Bond movie. I looked out over the shore at lunchtime today and half expected Ursula Andress to come wading out of the water in her bikini.
Snorkelling/scuba diving are on my Fuckit list in a very non specific manner. Ultimately I’d love to dive with rays and/or turtles. Today MrS took me snorkelling on the small reefs next to our hotel. They’re small so I wasn’t expecting much other than getting used to wearing the mask and snorkel. I remembered what he said about not breathing too hard, to breath slowly and normally rather than taking great gulping breathes. It took a while to get it, and to remember to just try and float rather than swim.
I felt like someone had dropped me into the tropical tank at the sea life centre.
We saw parrot fish, box fish, pipe fish, squirrel fish and a stone fish (MrS showed me the diving signal for danger at that point, which might have been more helpful if I’d known that’s what it meant BEFORE we got in the water!). There were miriad smaller fish and corals. I freaked out at one point but MrS held my hand and we swam back in. He is a qualified scuba diver so he went out again on his own and I just sat on the jetty waiting in the sunshine, taking it all in. Tomorrow we’re going back out, a bit further this time :)
