As I type, my trousers have just about dried out from this morning’s commute. I tried drying them out under the hand dryer when I first got to work but it has a safety cut out on it so I gave up in the end. Lesson learnt. Next time it’s bucketing it down I will wear jeans and boots to work and get changed when I arrive.
Anyway. January. Last year January sort of passed me by, because I basically spent the weeks counting down to the weekend when I could see MrS again. Each weekend was a bit like a mini-break. No January blues last year. This year things are a little more normal but whilst I’m fed up with being cold (and wet) I’m still not feeling desperately down which is a good start. I’ve not set myself any major targets this year (see why here) although I am trying to go without (refined) sugar in my diet. This is going amazingly well so far, I have impressed even myself. Then last night when I got home there was the new Boden catalogue. Whilst I was simultaneously complaining about losing weight and drooling over their new summer shoes MrS announced that if I lost a stone he would buy a pair for me. That’s the kind of incentive a girl needs! I would like to point out that he also said at this point the I look lovely as I am but he knows I feel uncomfortable and will do anything to help :)
It’s going ok so far. Much easier to cut out the sugar than the carbs. MrS has cooked meals that are all under 400 calories this week too. I changed all my stats on my Fitbit and My Fitness Pal and I need to eat under 1300 calories a day to lose 1lb a week. Under 1200 if I want to lose 1.5lb a week. So my targets are a stone by March when I have a weekend away with Hot Tub Helen and Posh Vics and then at least another 1/2 a stone by NYC in May.
I think I’ll have to put a photo of the shoes on my phone as a screen saver to remind me…
Off to Norfolk this weekend, no time for sea air as we are taking out my parents for a belated Christmas lunch (in the spirit of the new regime, I have looked at the menu in advance so I know what I’m having and won’t get sidetracked on Saturday!) but at least we get to have a lie in
