Day 357 ~ Post40Bloggers goes to Britmums
June 26, 2015

This is my third “I’ve been to BritmumsLive” post.
As with any annual event it is easy to note changes since the previous anniversary.
The first year I went, I really just wanted to meet up with other bloggers I’d met on Twitter. I’d been faffing about with my blog for a couple of years then, it wasn’t a parenting blog even then but I picked up some good advice and also got squished in a hug by Eliza-Do-Lots impressive décolletage.
The second time I went, last year, I took along Rubbish Wife but by the end of Friday we felt so disengaged we didn’t return the next day. I felt there was no obvious place there for me and my blog. Unbeknown to me, other people were having similar thoughts and conversations, while RW and I soaked up the sun and Pimms in the V&A that Saturday.
When Mel approached me about Post40Bloggers I was intrigued and really excited that she’d wanted me to be a part of it. So when she asked me to speak about Post40Bloggers at Britmums Live 2015 along with her and Siobhan (Everyone Else is Normal) I was thrilled. Talking about blogging to other bloggers, what’s not to love? Or just talking really…
It was billed as a “table top talk” however it quickly became clear that there were too many of us for that, so we decamped to the corner of the room and spread ourselves out. It was brilliant to put many faces to names of our contributors but even more fantastic was how many new bloggers came to find out what the Post40Blogger Buzz is all about.
After a brief introduction of us editors, including Afra, Charlotte and Julia who had also come to fly the flag, we whizzed round the group to find out about those who had joined us. The conversation was exciting and positive, but most wonderful of all were the comments from our new found peers, that Post40Bloggers “felt like coming home” and “it feels like I’ve found my tribe today”.
Post40Bloggers will always first and foremost be about quality writing; however we are also about celebrating our knowledge and experience, our integrity, our best bits, our flaws and whilst we and our growing band of writers and contributors have to be over 40, what we write is relevant for all.
We came away from Britmums Live very excited and full of plans (and some of us with new job titles!). So, Post40Bloggers, if you STILL don’t know what we’re about, find out more here, in our cunningly titled “About” section, straight from the Editor-in-Chief’s mouth.
If you like the cut of our jib please sign up to be a contributor now and maybe spread the word to that friend of yours who also blogs. Still thinking about it but want to know more? Please leave your details using the contact form and one of us will be happy to speak with you.
