MrS finished work for the last time on Friday. Today is the first day of our new normal, as I left him in bed and went off to work, which I will do until the end of next April.
Yesterday I had the day off, booked ages ago before we knew it would be his first day at home. He did some pre-work around the set up of his new limited company, bought his new domain name and generally worked his way through his to do list. Today he is already out doing the gardening.
Already our world is opening up, even though I’m still working. It means we can go to Norfolk on a Thursday evening if we like, which makes a lot of difference to our weekends there. It means instead of eating at 8:30pm we will eat at 7:30 which makes the evenings feel longer.
For him it brings the excitement of new business opportunities through his new consultancy, managing his own time, and getting his photography business off the ground.
It didn’t feel so odd going to work without him this morning as obviously I have done that many times. I suspect by next week, when it might have started to feel odd it will actually just feel normal. It’s funny how quickly we get used to things.
I wonder how long it will be before I get fed up of going to work while he’s at home?
Oh well, only 196 days to go. Then I have some plans of my own up my sleeve…
